Electric Hot Water Heaters

While an electric hot water heater heater is relatively inexpensive to buy, it’s usually the most expensive to run, especially on the continuous rate.

The electric hot water heaters are an insulated storage tank where the water is heated by one or more electric resistance elements and kept ready to be used, strong the water at around 60-80°C.

The good news is that you can run your electric hot water heater off-peak to keep running costs as low as you can.

Off peak means a larger storage tank, so for example a four-person household would need a 125 – 160 litre tank for a continuous system or 250 - 315 litre for off-peak.

Depending on your home or workplace, electric hot water heaters can be installed indoors or outdoors.

Keep in mind that sometimes continuous flow hot water heaters don’t turn on because of a combination of a low flow shower head and the trigger for the water heater to start up being set too high. This can be avoided if appropriately set up.
